Ambassador’s Smart Integration with FA~Link Enables Seamless Bookstore Purchases and New Reporting Opportunities

Collaboration Allows Schools to Post More Detailed and Accurate Transaction Data in Real-Time, Enabling Students and Schools Alike to Better Understand and Predict Course Materials Costs

Ambassador Education Solutions, which powers course materials and content integration programs, has built a one-of-a-kind integration with Trimdata’s FA~Link, a module within Ellucian’s Colleague student management system. The integration not only enables students to seamlessly use their financial aid dollars to purchase course materials through a school’s online or brick & mortar bookstore, but Ambassador and Trimdata also collaborated on a new way for schools to report more detailed and accurate transaction data in real-time for compliance and reconciliation purposes.

“The diligence of Ambassador’s team in working with us to uncover new opportunities to report on additional data speaks volumes about their commitment to helping schools and students navigate the financial aid process,” said Leila MacCarthy, Vice President of Business Development at Trimdata. “Ambassador’s innovative and out-of-the-box thinking are a valuable addition to our solutions and we are grateful for its partnership.”

Ambassador’s integration with FA~Link recently went live at a large state college with multiple campuses. It is providing the school’s administrators with key insights to reconcile bookstore transactions and drill down to report on the specifics of those transactions in the Colleague system. For example, the Ambassador FA~Link integration identifies taxable versus non-taxable funds, which enables the bookstore to charge the student appropriately at the time of order and correctly post the transaction to the student’s account in Colleague. This not only saves the time and effort it takes to go back and correct purchase totals, but it also helps both schools and students better understand financial aid balances and predict total costs associated with course materials.

“Financial aid packages vary, yet through our integration, it is now easier for schools to gauge the nuances of each individual financial aid award, providing deeper perspective into exactly how much is being spent on course materials and how that impacts each student’s financial aid balance,” said Steven M. Blicht, CEO of Ambassador. “Our team worked tirelessly with Trimdata to ensure the financial aid requirements of students and schools were being met and we are excited about the outcome.”

Hercules Bontzolakes, CTO of Ambassador, added, “This smart integration delivers efficient two-way communications between the bookstore and a school’s records, as well as more detailed and accurate data sharing, empowering schools with real-time analytics.”
